NATIONAL AG DAY AND “YEAR IN THE BUBBLE” – MARCH 26
CELEBRATING NATIONAL AG DAY
Tuesday, March 23 was National Ag Day, and Second Harvest celebrated its many agriculture partners that help ensure everyone across the Inland Northwest has access to fresh produce and locally grown food. This year, National Ag Day felt particularly important, as more families struggle to afford fresh, nutritious food. Northwest Agricultural Consultants – Soil and Plant Lab of Kennewick is proudly sponsoring National Agriculture Month, including National Ag Day, this year at Second Harvest’s Pasco hunger solution center. You can watch KAPP-KVEW’s coverage of National Ag Day here. Thank you to Second Harvest’s wonderful agriculture partners for your commitment to ending hunger in our community!

“YEAR IN THE BUBBLE”: SECOND HARVEST’S COVID-19 CRISIS RESPONSE CONTINUES
KXLY in Spokane recently featured Second Harvest in its “Year in the Bubble” series, which takes a look at how the Spokane community has been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Watch the video to learn more about Second Harvest’s response to the elevated need for food assistance in our community.
While the distribution of vaccines brings hope for an end to the pandemic, families will continue to feel the financial impacts of this crisis for months and years to come. If you’d like to help make sure everyone in our community has the food they need, you can sign up to volunteer or donate at 2-harvest.org. Second Harvest is immensely grateful to our many volunteers, donors and partners who have kept Second Harvest resilient over the last year.

Turkey Drive Recap – November 24
As we reflect on this year’s turkey drives, we want to share our gratitude. A community of volunteers, food pantries, agriculture partners and donors joined hands to distribute 6,800 Thanksgiving meals to neighbors in need in Spokane, the Mid-Columbia and Yakima Valley. To each of you, we say thank you.

A Thanksgiving Thanks – November 17
Thanksgiving, known for bringing together cherished ones over a festive meal, embodies not only the joy of togetherness but also serves as an occasion to express and spread gratitude. As we reflect on gratitude, we at Second Harvest want to send heartfelt thanks to the pantries and meal programs that tirelessly serve our communities.

Service to Country and Community – November 10
The Bite2Go program rallies people from a diversity of backgrounds around the simple belief that no child should go hungry. Our donors and volunteers come from the business world, the faith community and a variety of civic groups and clubs; they range in age from 9 to 90.
As Nov. 11, Veterans Day, approaches, we’d like to take time to thank a special group — our veterans — and acknowledge the multiple ways they serve our program and our communities as they once served their nation.
