Zilch
Second Harvest unties the knot that links waste and want.
- The idea is simple but embodies our mission: No hunger. No waste. Nothing. None. Zilch!
- Perfectly good food gets stranded in no man’s land because it doesn’t meet the cookie cutter standard. To avoid having to take your food to the landfill, call Zilch, powered by Second Harvest.
Benefits of donating
There are many ways donating food can benefit you and/or your business
- We know you may be worried about liability when it comes to donating food, but the U.S. Federal Government has passed major legislation to protect donors from criminal liability through the Good Samaritan Food Donation Act of 1996 and the Food Donation Improvement Act of 2022.
- The PATH Act of 2015 provides enhanced tax deductions for businesses who donate food to charity.
- Donating food can divert it from being dumped in landfills, which in turn helps businesses and the environment.
- We will pick up donated product
"We know there's a need and it's growing. No one person, no one company will do it alone. It's everybody doing their part. We can provide a potato or an onion, but somebody else is going to provide a cherry or an apple."
