1 in 7 neighbors faces hunger
But that’s not where the story ends. When food brings us together, amazing things happen.

Creating lasting change, one meal at a time
Beyond getting food to people who need it (which we do pretty well), we’re creating something bigger: a community of farmers, volunteers, local businesses, and everyday people working together to transform lives in unexpected ways. And we’re just getting started.
Our connected community
Local farmers → Fresh food
Local farms provide fresh, nutritious produce that forms the foundation of our hunger-relief efforts.
Food banks → Community hubs
Our wide network of pantries and meal sites create welcoming spaces where neighbors help neighbors.
Grocery stores → Food rescue
Local stores help us rescue good food that would otherwise go to waste, turning surplus into meals.
Teaching Kitchen → Life skills
Free cooking classes transform ingredients into confidence, knowledge, and healthy habits.
Volunteers → Personal connection
Our volunteers are the heart of what we do, sharing their kindness with every box packed.
Donors → Lasting impact
Every dollar donated multiplies into meals through our resourceful community partnerships.

Episode 6 – Food Donor Spotlight
Go behind the scenes with Jason for an exclusive look at how our food partners are fighting hunger in our community. Follow along as he tours the cutting-edge facility of Reser’s Fine Foods, then discover how the generous donations of Tyson Foods make their way through our Pasco, Washington warehouse to help feed families in need. From factory floor to food bank shelves, see the incredible journey of hope in action.
Episode 5, Pt. 1 – Nutrition Education
In this episode, we enter The Kitchen at Second Harvest. The Kitchen is the focal point of Second Harvest’s investment in long-term health through nutrition education and hands-on cooking classes.
Episode 5, Pt. 2 – Nutrition Education
In this episode, we see how by eliminating barriers to nutritious food, we encourage our community to live healthier and connect with one another. First, we explore one of our Mobile Market bus food distributions. This grocery store on wheels serves people facing hunger who may lack easy access to food. We then join an off-site cooking class.
Episode 4 – Partners in Agriculture
We head west to Wapato, Washington, in episode four to visit our incredible partners in agriculture and investigate food insecurity throughout the Inland Northwest. Learn how Second Harvest sources a variety of nutritious food year-round from this region to help feed families in need every day.
Episode 3 – Rural Communities
In episode three, Jason visits Zillah, Washington, to dive into how Second Harvest can best serve rural communities. These communities make up 87% of the counties in America with the highest food insecurity rates, but there are fewer resources in these areas for assistance. That’s why Second Harvest decided it was time to get creative.
Episode 2 – Grocery Rescue
In episode two, we explore the origins of Second Harvest’s Grocery Rescue program, the more than 15-year-old effort to rescue food from grocery stores throughout the region and connect their excess food with food pantries in their local communities.
Episode 1 – Bite2Go
In the series premiere, Jason introduces the Wolff Family Child Hunger Solution Center in Spokane. He talks about the origins of Second Harvest’s leading child hunger initiative, Bite2Go, in partnership with another local nonprofit, At The Core.
