Transform your meals with these flavorful refried beans! Cooked with sautéed onions, garlic, and spices, they’re creamy and satisfying. A splash of lime juice adds a refreshing kick, making them the perfect addition to burritos, nachos, or simply as a hearty side dish!
Cooking Tip
Make sure to chop the onions small and fully cook them to make the final product creamy.
Try using different types of beans such as kidney beans or black beans for a different taste.
Heat vegetable oil and onion over medium-low heat in a sauté pan.
Add garlic, chili powder, and cumin. Stir to combine.
Pour in drained pinto beans and reserved bean liquid. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
Reduce heat to low and remove lid. Use a potato masher to mash the beans.
Cook uncovered, stirring frequently for 3 minutes. If beans are dry, add water 1 tsp. at a time.
Remove from heat and add lime juice. Stir to combine.
