Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 8 oz cheddar cheese, shredded
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  • In a medium sauce pan over medium heat, melt your butter then add your flour and whisk together; it should be a wet sand consistency. Cook for about two minutes whisking as needed so the flour doesn’t brown. Add the milk slowly while whisking then continue to whisk while your milk comes up to a simmering temperature.
  • The milk will begin to thicken while you whisk, once it is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon remove your pan from the heat and add the shredded cheese. Mix well and taste once the cheese is melted, add salt and pepper as needed.
