Jason Clark has been a “food banker” since 1993 and a part of the Second Harvest team since 2002, working alongside an incredible group of staff, volunteers, and partners to address hunger in our community. During his time here, Jason has been fortunate to witness and to be a part of several big milestones in the organization’s journey. Before joining Second Harvest, Jason gained valuable experience at the food bank in his hometown of St. Joseph, Missouri and through board and volunteer roles at Feeding America. He holds a degree in history from Missouri Western State University and an MBA from Benedictine College.

Drew Meuer, a dedicated leader at Second Harvest, spearheaded initiatives to expand mobile markets, nutrition education, and community partnerships. He supports Second Harvest’s leadership team in strategic planning, capacity building and general operations to sustain mission-critical hunger-relief services. A Gonzaga University graduate and Leadership Spokane alumnus, Meuer also contributes to wildlife conservation and local cycling advocacy.

Dean, School of Business Administration, Gonzaga University

Dr. Ken Anderson, a Gonzaga alumnus (BBAd, MBA) who earned his doctorate from the University of Nebraska, has been at Gonzaga for over 39 years. He’s published in multiple journals and has extensive consulting experience in negotiations and employment law. Anderson has held various leadership roles at Gonzaga, including Faculty Representative to the NCAA, Associate Dean and Interim Provost.

Katie Burton, with Lydig since 2017, applies her small-town values to Spokane’s business community. A Leadership Spokane alumna, she is the current vice chair of the YMCA Corporate Board and actively volunteers with Second Harvest’s Bite2Go program, embodying her commitment to community service and local impact.

President and Chief Operating Officer, Avista Utilities

Heather Rosentrater, a registered Professional Engineer with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Gonzaga University, has over 25 years of experience at Avista Corp. Her expertise spans electric and natural gas operations, including transmission, distribution, and system operations. Rosentrater serves on the YWCA board and Gonzaga’s School of Engineering Executive Council.

Janice Jordan’s diverse healthcare career spans nursing, physician assistant work, and management. She holds an Executive MBA from the University of Idaho, a physician assistant degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and nursing degrees from Lewis-Clark State College. Jordan’s experience includes primary care, urgent care, and various hospital departments.

Jennifer, an attorney with over 18 years of experience, is licensed in Washington, Idaho, and Montana. She holds a psychology degree from Central Washington University and a law degree from Gonzaga University. Specializing in employment law and regulatory issues, Jennifer provides business consulting services. Originally from Western Washington, she now resides in Spokane with her family.

Keri Howard, a CPA licensed in Washington, holds a bachelor’s in business administration and a master’s in accounting from Gonzaga University. Her diverse career spans public accounting, biotechnology, and various industries. Howard’s expertise in financial management is backed by experience in both public and private sectors across multiple business environments.

Jesse Wolff, with over two decades of specialized multifamily investment experience, leads investment strategy and underwriting at The Wolff Company. His expertise includes market selection, risk management, and asset management for multifamily portfolios. An Eastern Washington University alumnus, Wolff balances his professional responsibilities with family life in Spokane.

Michael McShane brings over three decades of grocery industry expertise, spanning retail and wholesale environments across multiple states. A University of Hawaii graduate, McShane’s career progression includes roles in procurement, category management, and merchandising for major grocery chains. His experience encompasses diverse areas from store operations to wholesale distribution and specialized retail formats.

Kelley Ferguson, a 25-year financial industry veteran, has served Numerica since 1998, advancing to Chief Administration Officer. With degrees from Whitworth, Gonzaga, and Washington State universities, Ferguson oversees multiple departments. He chairs the Generation Alive board and is dedicated to community philanthropy and family.

Sarah Schwering brings over 20 years of marketing expertise to her Spokane-based consulting firm, s•squared marketing + communications. With BBA and MBA degrees from Gonzaga University, she serves diverse industries and nonprofits. Schwering is deeply involved in the community, serving on multiple boards including Gonzaga’s School of Business Advisory Board.

Sergio De Leon
Owner, De Leon Foods

Sergio De Leon, a multi-business owner in Spokane, oversees Northwest Freight Handlers, Northwest Sanitation, De Leon Foods, and De Leon’s Taco and Bar, employing over 150 people. An active community leader, he supports various organizations, particularly those benefiting children. De Leon serves on the Spokane Alliance for Fentanyl Education board.

Jason Buchanan brings 18 years of experience in finance and insurance, particularly in agriculture-related sectors. A Central Washington University graduate, he has worked with Wells Fargo and Hartford Insurance. Buchanan actively volunteers, supporting Second Harvest, PGA First Tee, and literacy programs. He resides in Richland, Washington.

Assistant Foundations Dean and Hospitalist at Sacred Heart, University of Washington School of Medicine AND Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center

Dr. Janelle Clauser, educated in California with residency at Georgetown University Hospital, teaches at University of Washington School of Medicine and practices as a hospitalist. Board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics, she advocates for underserved populations. Clauser supports Spokane’s medical community and enjoys outdoor activities with her family.

Cat has been with Superfresh Growers since 2015, and holds a Global Development Studies degree. She serves on the International Fresh Produce Association Women’s Fresh Perspectives Committee, Pear Bureau NW domestic subcommittee, Cosmic Crisp Apple Marketing Advisory Committee, and Fresh Produce & Floral Council Apprentice Taskforce. Cat specializes in marketing and business development, with a focus on farm-to-table storytelling.

Carl Sohn holds degrees in finance and management from Boston College and a master’s in organizational and servant leadership from Gonzaga University. A member of the American Society for Agricultural Consultants, Sohn volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and supports local arts. His agricultural business expertise enhances Second Harvest’s mission.

Ryan Douglas graduated from the University of Portland in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, and he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2006. Straight out of college, Ryan joined Douglas Eden, P.S., where he currently serves as a principal and specializes in estate and trust planning and probate. He is a member of the Washington State and Spokane County bar associations.

Chief Executive Inland Northwest Region, MultiCare Health System

Alex Jackson, holding a Master of Health Administration from UNC Chapel Hill, brings extensive healthcare leadership experience to the board. Jackson joined Multicare in 2018 as the COO of Multicare Rockwood Clinic. His career includes more than 20 years of health care leadership. He actively volunteers in community projects, classrooms, and youth sports, demonstrating his commitment to public service.

Retired - President, and General Manager, Inland Empire Paper Company

Kevin graduated from Washington State University with a degree in chemical engineering. Retired from Inland Empire Paper Company after 39 years where he lead the team as President and General Manager. Rasler is an active part of the Spokane Valley community having served as an Executive Board Member of the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber, West Valley School Board Curriculum Advisory Committee and many Millwood community business, civic and school based activities.

Director of Foundation Finance & Operations, Providence Inland Northwest Foundation

Kyndrin, a lifelong Spokane area resident, oversees operations and fiscal management for Providence Inland Northwest Foundation. With a business administration degree from Gonzaga University and pursuing an MBA from Eastern Washington University, she manages foundation funds and internal grants. Kyndrin is dedicated to her community and family.

The Second Harvest Board of Directors had the foresight to create the Foundation to ensure we can feed people for decades to come. The Kay Porta Legacy Society is a way for donors to make a lasting impact and the Foundation helps us steward those gifts in the best possible way.
