FIVE WAYS TO GIVE THIS SEASON
It’s the season of giving! A time when communities come together, and people give to charities or causes they are passionate about. We are always in awe of the generosity our community demonstrates by donating their time, food, or funds in hopes of combatting hunger for local kids, families and seniors. This week, we have a few examples of ways you can give back this holiday season!
1. FEED365
Our Feed365 program was created as a program to generate sustainable, reliable giving. As a monthly donor, you will create a year-round source of funding to help provide healthy, fresh meals for seniors, children and families facing hunger in our community. Your monthly gift is easy to set up and manage and will make a huge difference in the lives of people facing hunger in the Inland Northwest. 2. KPLS
By remembering Second Harvest in your will, estate plan or trust, you will ensure funds will go where they’re needed most to end hunger in our community.
Legacy givers are welcomed into the Kay Porta Legacy Society. In 1971 Kay Porta and a small group of volunteers started the Spokane Food Bank with the belief that food is a basic and critical need. Today, that simple and compassionate vision has become Second Harvest, the largest distributor of food to hungry children, families and seniors in the Inland Northwest.
Kay’s influence continues with The Kay Porta Legacy Society, which honors individuals who seek to establish a strong foundation for a hunger-free Inland Northwest by making legacy gifts to Second Harvest.
Planned charitable giving is simple. Talk to your financial advisor or contact our donor relations team.
3. STOCKS & BONDS
Donations of stock can feed those in need and be a benefit to you. A donation of stock or other securities to Second Harvest Inland Northwest can be a tax-efficient way to help provide food to our neighbors who are struggling to put enough food on the table. Our EIN is 23-7173826. For assistance, contact Tony Cook on our donor relations team at 509-252-6277 or stockgifts@2-harvest.org. Second Harvest Inland Northwest has received gifts of stock in the past and would be honored by your support.
4. MAKE AN END OF YEAR GIFT
End of year giving is of interest for those who are looking to conduct charitable giving during the 2021 calendar year for tax purposes. If you are partaking in this, please make your gift at your earliest convenience so we can be sure to get it documented prior to year’s end. Our EIN is 23-7173826. Talk to your financial advisor for more information on how charitable giving might influence tax savings. Make your gift now!
5. VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME
We simply couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers. Each year, more than 8,000 volunteers step through our front doors and become a part of the solution to hunger in our community. They bring their passion, energy and skills to the table so they can put food onto the tables of their neighbors in need. No matter your age or ability, you can play a role in solving hunger. Sign up to volunteer now at the hunger solution center nearest you.
