SOME OF OUR FAVORITE LOCAL STORIES.
feeding hope: Lindsey’s story
Unfortunately, it’s something that has become familiar to us all: job loss. We all have friends and family who have lost work due to the economic ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic. But what about losing two jobs in a row?
That’s become a reality for Lindsey, who is now on her third job since April 2020. Lindsey, who has worked in the service industry since she was 18, is at her third place of employment in less than a year. “One restaurant closed and the other couldn’t keep all of their staff,” Lindsey said. “I felt hopeless.”
“This year has been overwhelming and this is one less thing i have to worry about. Thank You!”
Lindsey had relied on some friends and family to help her get through her times of unemployment, but she knew that was something that couldn’t last forever. “I was so happy to find another job. It was a really difficult time,” she said.
Even though she’s been let go twice, she’s cautiously optimistic. “I have to hope, I have to believe that this job will last. I’m trying my best,” she said. She’s thankful for the food she’s receiving at the Mobile Market in Sandpoint today, because even though she’s employed again she is still “getting back on her feet,” after being out of work twice in the past year.
“I didn’t know this service was available,” she said. “This year has been overwhelming and this is one less thing I have to worry about. Thank you!”
