SECOND HARVEST CELEBRATES NATIONAL AGRICULTURE MONTH
Second Harvest will highlight its vital partnerships with the agricultural community during National Agriculture Month in March.
Second Harvest is grateful for partnerships with regional growers who donate Washington–grown fresh produce to help nourish families throughout the Inland Northwest. Although the donated food supply chain has been disrupted due to impacts related to the pandemic, during normal times, almost half of the food Second Harvest provides is nutrient–rich fresh fruits and vegetables.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to an organization as impressive as Second Harvest and are excited to sponsor National Ag Month at Second Harvest’s Volunteer Center. We are fortunate to serve the great agricultural industry of the Northwest.”
Northwest Agricultural Consultants—Soil and Plant Lab of Kennewick is sponsoring National Ag Month at our Pasco Volunteer Center. The laboratory has been of service to the agricultural community of the Pacific Northwest for over 35 years. It is a full-service laboratory that specializes in wheat, potatoes, corn, beans peas, onions, hops, tree fruits and vineyards. They provide in-house soil, plant and water testing services for Washington, Oregon and Idaho clients, specializing in soil and plant tissue analysis for fertility requirements and in order to provide the best yield.
President and lab director Wade Carter saw a natural partnership in supporting Second Harvest. Both organizations work with many of the same farmers and growers, and both work toward a similar goal: healthy food with maximum nutritional benefit.
Carter commented, “We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to an organization as impressive as Second Harvest and are excited to sponsor National Ag Month at Second Harvest’s Volunteer Center. We are fortunate to serve the great agricultural industry of the Northwest. The growers, companies and organizations we work with are staffed with knowledgeable, talented and hard-working people who make this industry so remarkable.”
