We want to share some incredible news that has brightened our days here at Second Harvest.
You may be familiar with the hustle and bustle of Black Friday and Cyber Monday — those days when the focus often turns to shopping and bargains. However, there’s another day on the calendar that embodies the true spirit of the season, and one that we truly celebrate: Giving Tuesday. It just happened and is a day when people from all walks of life come together to give back. This year, it made a profound impact on our community, especially for people facing hunger.
We are grateful to Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU) for their generosity. For the second year in a row, they extended support with an extraordinary $15,000 matching gift, inspiring people like you to pause the purchasing and press play on impact. ICCU’s match meant that gifts made on Giving Tuesday would make an expanded impact, amplifying the good we can do together for our neighbors struggling to afford groceries and other necessities. The combined generosity of each of you and ICCU has left us in awe — an astonishing collective gift of $60,350 that will be transformed into nourishing food. Each dollar shared is casting a vote for creating a community that offers a helping hand where and when needed. The ICCU Green Team also put their helping hands into action through a volunteer shift on Giving Tuesday, helping to pack thousands of Bite2Go food supplies for schoolchildren facing weekend meal gaps.
Second Harvest is dedicated to addressing hunger throughout the Inland Northwest, but it’s each compassionate supporter like ICCU and you, putting your values into action with us, who truly fuel the efforts to get food where it’s needed. To dig deeper into our mission, watch this latest episode in our Hunger Crusade series and join our CEO as he visits a couple of our tremendous food donor partners.
Thanks again, ICCU and all who donated on Giving Tuesday, for helping ensure families in our community won’t have to face the holiday season with empty stomachs.
