Join our CEO, Jason Clark, in his audacious quest to end hunger
In the series premiere, Jason introduces the Wolff Family Child Hunger Solution Center in Spokane. He talks about the origins of Second Harvest’s leading child hunger initiative, Bite2Go, in partnership with another local nonprofit, At The Core.
In episode two, we explore the origins of Second Harvest’s Grocery Rescue program, the more than 15-year-old effort to rescue food from grocery stores throughout the region and connect their excess food with food pantries in their local communities.
In episode three, Jason visits Zillah, Washington, to dive into how Second Harvest can best serve rural communities. These communities make up 87% of the counties in America with the highest food insecurity rates, but there are fewer resources in these areas for assistance. That’s why Second Harvest decided it was time to get creative.
We head west to Wapato, Washington, in episode four to visit our incredible partners in agriculture and investigate food insecurity throughout the Inland Northwest. Learn how Second Harvest sources a variety of nutritious food year-round from this region to help feed families in need every day.
In this episode, we enter The Kitchen at Second Harvest. The Kitchen is the focal point of Second Harvest’s investment in long-term health through nutrition education and hands-on cooking classes.
In this episode, we see how by eliminating barriers to nutritious food, we encourage our community to live healthier and connect with one another. First, we explore one of our Mobile Market bus food distributions. This grocery store on wheels serves people facing hunger who may lack easy access to food. We then join an off-site cooking class.
