Why partner with Second Harvest

Second Harvest is a trusted steward of food and financial gifts. We bring community resources together to feed people in need through empowerment, education and partnerships, and we want you to join us. Founded in 1971 as a central warehouse for a handful of local food pantries, Second Harvest has grown into one of Spokane’s largest social service nonprofits.

“Without Second Harvest, a lot of people  a lot of young kids  would go hungry. It’s really important in this neighborhood. Everybody’s just kind of just makin’ it.” –Edwin, Second Harvest client

Ways to partner with Second Harvest

  • Combine the power of individuals with companies: Matching gifts elevate the capability of your donors’ contributions.

We work hard to manage your gifts.

We strive to be good stewards of every donation we receive through ever-more efficient operations. Second Harvest has rigorous standards for service delivery, food safety and financial stewardship. An annual financial audit evaluates Second Harvest's fiscal well-being and confirms use of standard business procedures. Monthly tracking of financial resources, food inventory and distribution, and volunteer hours documents service activities.

Last year, 99 percent of expenses (including the value of donated food) went toward food distribution. Thanks to generous food donors and more than 8,000 volunteers annually, Second Harvest transforms every donated dollar into five meals for people in need.

Your business and employees can help solve hunger in our community. Help effect change where it’s needed most by volunteering at Second Harvest.

“Here I always feel like I’m helping. You can actually feel it and see it.” – Casey, 9-year volunteer with Second Harvest.
