FOOD DELIVERY SERVICE RECAP AND VOICES OF HOPE – FEBRUARY 12
SPOKANE COUNTY FOOD DELIVERY SERVICE RECAP
The ZoNE, one of the many community partners that came together to deliver food to the homes of people in need this past December, recently shared a recap of the program’s impact, including a moving video in which a resident in Northeast Spokane shared the difference the food has made for her and her family during the pandemic. You can also watch this video, by Rising River Media, which gives you a closer look at the program’s origins and impact in the Spokane community. Second Harvest was proud to partner with The ZoNE, Special Mobility Services, SNAP, CHAS, local Community Health Workers and several other partners to provide this service.
VOICE OF HOPE
Allen, pictured below, was one of the many veterans who attended Second Harvest’s Mobile Market distribution at the North Idaho VA Clinic on February 5. Allen served in the Air Force for four years (1955-1959) and enjoyed his time being stationed in San Diego. He comes to the North Idaho VA Clinic in Coeur d’Alene a few times a year for checkups and is deeply appreciative of the support he has gotten since serving in the military. This was Allen’s first time attending a Second Harvest Mobile Market event, and he said he is grateful for another great resource being provided to the veterans in Idaho!

Healthy Tips for Heart Month – February 3
February is American Heart Month.
Here are five things you can do to take good care of your heart this month and beyond.

Meet Martha – January 27
Martha learned the joy of service early in life. It’s a lesson the longtime educator has shared with her three children and students. But in the past year, she discovered a new outlet: serving as a Second Harvest core volunteer and member of the Kay Porta Legacy Society.

Bite2Go: Serving students facing hunger – January 20
Today more than 150 adoptive organizations enable Second Harvest, in partnership with At The Core, to provide Bite2Go to nearly 8,500 elementary, middle and high school students in Spokane, the Tri-Cities and a growing list of rural communities.
