Accountability Report - Outlet Results for 2009
- A total of 4 million pounds of donated food valued at $6 million
- Organized community-wide food drives that generated 945,000 pounds of donated food
- 885,000 pounds of federal commodities provided
- 8,006 Thanksgiving turkeys and meals collected during Tom’s Turkey Drive and distributed through the outlet network
- An additional 3,277 holiday turkeys collected and distributed through the outlet network
- 224 Food Sense nutrition education classes held in partnership with Washington State University Extension of Spokane County, benefiting 5,690 emergency food clients
- More than 88,000 pounds of area retail store food donations connected directly to outlets through Grocery Rescue Partner Program
- Over three million pounds of food industry contributions transported, sorted, inspected, processed and palletized, then moved to outlets by vehicle loan or by Second Harvest truck
(Pounds of food include projected distribution during last quarter of fiscal year 2009, which runs through June 30, 2009.)
